Yes, friends, my straightener was on for 7 hours yesterday.
The funny thing is is that I was on my way to boyfriend's house and my thought process started ticking. It always starts immediately when you get to the point in your route where you're juuuust far enough away where it's a pain in the ass to turn around. I thought "hmm.. typically I remember turning my straightener off because I have to put my fingers dangerously close to the scalding hot irons to get to the button... but I don't remember doing that." I ruled it out thinking that I was in such a rush that why in GOD'S NAME would I remember such a little ass detail.
So here's my love letter to you, Zoe (that's the brand name. don't start thinking I name my appliances). I want to first thank you for not burning my house down or melting anything on my vanity. I also want to thank you for still working since I just decided how much I love you. I think all of the idiots on makeupalley that write bad things about you are a bunch of bitches. Don't listen to them - you're better than that. Thanks for the straight hair, the little flippy thing you do, and also the subtle curls. You're a multi-tasking master. I really appreciate the fact that you still get hot after my dumbass left you on for seven hours straight. Not sucking is great, and as a matter of fact - it's your specialty. You go, Zoe. Seriously - you go.

The same thing happened to me last week! However, it never crossed my mind that maybe I had forgotten to turn it off. I came home and there was the little red blinking light and the scorching irons on my vanity. I almost lost it. So, I will say 'thank you, Chi, for not burning my house down!' Not that it's a good thing that you left your straightner on, but I'm so glad I'm not the only one in the world that does stuff like this sometimes!! Have a fabulous night! xoxo
awww u r too cute !
loll
seriously.hahaha
Hahahahahah... I am soooo ocd about this. I can't tell you how many times I've been late to work because I thought I left it on. So I turn around and go back. Only to find out that I did, in fact... turn it off. And each and every time I get in the car and start going through that mental checklist (doors locked? everything packed for the day? straightner off?)... I always think, but what if today was that one time that I forgot?
Oooooh... stupid. Girls. And their beauty.
ohhhhh God don't you hate this! I did this once with my electric blanket, only I didn't realise I'd left it on all day until I got into bed the next night! OMG i nearly died!!!
Thank God for Zoe :)
Hehe, funny post. You should try a GHD, they turn themselves off after thirty mins of innactivity.
Although I can't say I've ever forgotten to turn off my straightener as I have kids so I have to unplug them and put them up high, out of reach!
I hate this feeling of not being sure if you turned it off or not ! It happened too me a few times to forget to turn something off, because i'm so absent-minded !
The other day I left my curlers on for 8 hours. They melted through my hair-dryer but there was no smell and no fire!
I love the letter to your straighteners. Cute and funny ^^
x
Ooohhhh I've sooo been there!!! I straighten my bangs every morning & I usually run out of the house for work & it's always in the back of my head, "Omg did I turn off my straightener????". I have one of the Revlon ones from CVS not a very fancy one but there is an automatic shut-off on it after a certain amount of time. Maybe Zoe has one like that??
I feel your pain. Find myself in this situation a lot, thinking if I turned it off or not. Usually it turns out that I had remembered to turn it off, but last week I came home and had forgotten. Scary situation
ahh, i have a tendancy to leave my straighteners on but i use ghd's and they cut out after 30 mins. i once left my old straighteners on top of my tv all day, they melted the top :( ahh. loove the ghds though.
i've done this to my poor straightener on more than one occasion. doesn't make hubby too happy. but i have yet to start any structure fires with my need for straight hair, so i figure i'm still winning ;)
Phew! Good thing nothing happened! I got kind of worried when I read the title. But aren't there straighteners that turn off automatically within a time frame?
